Chainclaw (Autobot PC Build - Transformers Essence20 rpg)
This article uses game statistics based on the Transformers Essence20 rpg by Renegade Game Studios.
In a recent post by Ryan Costello on Facebook, he discovered the existence of an Autobot character named Chainclaw who was packaged with an Optimus Prime figure. He is quoted as exclaiming: "There's a Transformer named Chainclaw that changes from a wolf into a chainsaw, and I don't think this is being talked about enough."
Now, I am familiar with Chainclaw, as I used to own the original character from his 1988 release, as a Pretender beast who was packaged with a bear shell form. But honestly, this version is so much cooler!
As such, I have used the Essence20 rpg to build Chainclaw, mixing a few elements from his original version with his new version.
This one's for you, Ryan!
CHAINCLAW
Autobot Ground Trooper
Chainclaw believes firmly that there is something very wrong with his systems, if not several things wrong, and nothing will convince him otherwise. He endlessly entertains visions of how he and his teammates are going to die in battle, every possible mishap that's remotely plausible, even several implausible ones. Once he starts fighting, though, his anxiousness is channeled into a wild, animalistic fighting fury. Chainclaw is an incredibly effective and ferocious warrior... so long as he doesn't notice that discolored spot on his exostructure.
"The only thing for certain is uncertainty."

PERKS
Foot Soldier: When in Bot Mod, Chainclaw treats his Speed as if it was 2 ranks higher when calculating how many Free Action he gets on his turn.
Hardcore: When Chainclaw takes enough damage to be Defeated, he can spend an Energon Point to instead lose a limb but otherwise ignore the effect of the attack. Chainclaw can use Hardcore as long as he has Energon Points and limbs to spare.
Mode Conversion: Cybertronians spend a Standard Action to convert between Bot Mode and Alt-Mode.
Push Through The Pain: When Chainclaw spends an Energon POint to continue to function normally after being knocked to 0 Health, he rolls 2d2 instead of the normal 1d2 to determine how many rounds he remains in the fight.
Security: When Chainclaw is Surprised, he can take a Move Action and roll a Skill Test. He still can’t take a Standard Action.
Shiny Finish (General): Chainclaw has Resistance to attacks dealing Laser Damage.

Get A Grip (Bot Mode Only; 2 Free Actions): When Chainclaw successfully hits a target that is no more than one Size Class larger than himself with an unarmed combat attack, he can spend two Free actions to inflict the Grappled condition on the same target.
In The Right Hands (Alt-Mod Only, Melee Weapon - Chainsaw): While being wielded, Chainclaw automatically grants the benefits of Lend Assistance to his wielder with Intimidation Skill Tests; this takes no Action on Chainclaw’s part.
Manifest Melee Weapon (Free): Once per combat, Chainclaw can create an Integrated Energon Weapon without needing to spend an Energon Point, as long as the weapon he creates is based on a Standard Melee Weapon. This weapon lasts until the end of Combat or until Chainclaw is defeated.
Tough it Out (Standard): Once per combat, Chainclaw can make a Brawn Skill Test to repair his damage. The DIF is the same as the Technology Skill test to Repair Damage.
GEAR
Armor: Heavy Armor Matrix (+3 Toughness)
Weapons: Double-Barreled Sonic Blaster
HANGUPS
Intense Hypochondriac: Chainclaw is often distracted by worries and concerns that may or may not be relevant to the current situation. When making an Alertness Skill test to gain a better understanding of potential danger to others, take a ↓1.
