The Mummy Imhotep, 1932 ("The Monsters Are Our Heroes" Villain)

Continuing with the Mummy theme started by yesterday's posting of the Scorpion King, I present The Mummy Imhotep... probably not the one you were hoping or expecting.... y'know... the sexy, shirtless one... No, this is the original Boris Karloff Mummy as portrayed in the 1932 film.

This article uses game statistics from "The Monsters Are Our Heroes" rpg by Bloat games.

Imhotep was a high priest who desired the attentions of the priestess Anck-su-namun. After she fell ill and died, Imhotep attempted to use the Scroll of Thoth to resurrect his beloved. However, his plans were blasphemous and he was captured by the Pharoah and mummified alive; the sacred spells in his casket destroyed, curing him in the afterlife.

Imhotep's mummy was unearthed by archaeologists in 1921. When they translated the Scroll of Thoth near his body, the Mummy Imhotep was animated by its power and escaped into the Egyptian desert.

In 1932, Imhotep returned in disguise as the historian Ardeth Bay and aided the archaeologists who unearthed his tomb to find the tomb of Anck-su-namun as a means of finding and restoring his love in the modern day.

While the classic Mummy is a slow burn, it is a classic for a reason.

Here is the Mummy Imhotep, to be used as a villain for your TMAOH campaign:

ABILITIES

Immortal Undead: Imhotep owes his undead existence to the Scroll of Thoth, which animates his dead form. Unless the Scroll of Thoth is destroyed, Imhotep will fully rejuvenate his physical form 24 hours after being reduced to 0 Hit Points. If the Scroll of Thoth is destroyed, Imhotep is also destroyed, as his body turns to dust.

Magic Resistance: Imhotep has Advantage on saving throws against spells and other magical effects.

Necrotic Aura: If a living creature touches, grabs, or strikes Imhotep with an unarmed attack, they take 2d8 necrotic damage. If this damage reduces the target’s Hit Points to 0, the target dies and their body turns to dust.

Self Sustenance: Imhotep does not need to eat, drink, or breathe to survive.
