Broadside Contact (Transformers Essence20 rpg)

Today, the Enigma of Combination was released on PDF, and it had a tons of excellent material for creating characters whom I've been wanting to build. Case in point: Broadside, one of the Autobot Triple Changers. Known for his massive size, I was unable to develop this character properly until the new Titanspark Influence was introduced in "Enigma of Combination."

This build is unofficial, fan-made material using the Transformers Essence20 rpg by Renegade Games Studios.

BROADSIDE

I like the sea far away and my feet on the ground.”

Broadside was there. He saw it happen. The conquest of Kaon. The fall of a Prime. The beginning of the Great War. Broadside was there, and amazingly well armed for such a "peaceful" period, though perhaps he took a clue from Sentinel Prime. Either way, the huge old bot was one of the survivors who managed to evacuate before Megatron's takeover.

In the present, Broadside is a member of the elite combat unit "The Wreckers".

Influences

Cybertronian Military (Marine), Titanspark: During the first arc of Optimus Prime's tenure as leader of the Autobots, Broadside was an enormous warrior, as tall as the special combiner teams, and supposedly nearly as powerful. He helped defend the Autobot capital of Iacon.

Origin

Monolith: Broadside is very large in all modes, standing at least twice as tall as Ultra Magnus, and being able to combat giant Decepticon combiners alone.

Role and Focus

Modemaster (Triple Changer): In the modern era, Broadside was one of the Autobots upgraded into a Triple Changer by Shockwave's new process. Besides his robot mode, Broadside transforms into a jet fighter and an aircraft carrier. The alternate modes of a jet and a naval ship are ironic, considering that he has acrophobia (the fear of heights) and kinetosis (motion sickness or, in the Broadside’s case, seasickness).

Gaining Broadside As A Contact

Bot-Mode Attachment: Broadside is a broken ‘bot and dislikes being made to use his Alt-Modes. He shares a bond with others who share his affliction. If a PC has the Mode Attachment Hang=Up and spends their downtime socializing with Broadside, and succeeds on a DIF 15 Persuasion Skill Test, they gain Broadside as a permanent Contact.

Fellow Autobot: If this Contact is on the scene, the player characters can summon them for 1 round.

Allegiance Points: 3

Contact Perks

It’s Not My Fault I’m the Biggest and Strongest (1 Allegiance Point): Broadside is massive and physically powerful. A player character has Edge on any one Strength-Based Skill Test until the end of the round.

I Need To Axe You Something! (2 Allegiance Points): Broadside employs his vibroaxe in battle to cut through his enemies. A PC gains the Anti-Tank Upgrade on their weapon attacks until the end of the scene.

The Building – and Occupants – Are Toast! (3 Allegiance Points): Broadside lives up to his name by saturating an area with heavy weapons fire. All Threats in the combat scene take 1 Sharp Damage.
