Topspin Contact (Transformers Essence20 RPG)

I had intended to post a Contact build for the Wrecker Rack'n'Ruin today. Unfortunately, there is a problem with that... Rack'n'Ruin does not have any Tech Spec ratings out there, so I can't provide them with appropriate Essence Scores. That's going to make finishing the Wreckers ... problematic.

So, segueing over to another member of the Wreckers, we have one of the two Jumpstarters: Topspin.

This article uses game statistics from the Transformers Essence20 rpg by Renegade Games Studios.

TOPSPIN

The thrill is in the journey.”

Facing off against Decepticons isn't nearly enough of a challenge for Topspin. He'd rather pit himself against Nature itself. No mountain is tall enough, no river treacherous enough to give him pause. Alone against rough terrain, be it on land or in the sea, is where this Wrecker's fuel pump really gets going. Though he loves the challenge he's not fixated on conquering new terrain, he simply enjoys pitting himself against it.

As Jumpstarters, Topspin and his brother Twin Twist can transform between modes in a fraction of an instant, significantly faster than most Transformers.

Influences

Adventurer: If it doesn't result in at least a few dings and scraped paint, Topspin isn't interested. To him, buckled and burnt armor are signs of a life well-led. As one of the Wreckers, he's proud of being one tough bot, and is more than happy to wear the scars to prove it. This Influence comes from the GIJoe Essence20 RPG.

Origin

Cutter: Topspin assumes the form of an amphibious hovercraft.

Role and Focus

Ranger (Scout): Topspin excels at taking in their environment and guiding others through it. This Role and Focus come from the GIJoe Essence20 RPG.

Essence Scores and Skills

Strength 6: Athletics +d6, Might +d6

Speed 8: Driving +d6, Infiltration +d2, Initiative +d4, Targeting +d4

Smarts 6: Alertness +d4, Science +d2, Survival +d6

Gaining Topspin As A Contact

Fellow Autobot: If this Contact is on the scene, the player characters can summon them for 1 round.

Sightseeing: Nothing excites Topspin more than making trips into the wilderness and exploring everything he can while there. If the PCs spend their downtime exploring a new patch of wilderness with Topspin, and succeed on three DIF 16 Alertness, Initiative, or Survival Skill Tests, they gain Topspin as a permanent Contact.

Allegiance Points: 3

Contact Perks

Amphibious (3 Allegiance Points): Topspin is ready to take on all sorts of different terrain. The PCs gain a Water Movement Speed equal to their Bot-Mode Ground Speed until the end of the scene.

Jumpstarter (2 Allegiance Points): Topspin and Twin-Twist are some of the fastest when it comes to converting between their Alt and Bot Modes. The PCs can convert between their Bot Mode and Alt Mode, or vice versa, as a Free Action until the end of the scene.

Recon (1 Allegiance Point): Topspin takes the forward observer position to guide his allies through rough terrain. A PC gains Edge on one Alertness, Initiative, or Survival Skill Test in this scene.

Contact Hang-Up

Branched Spark: The Jumpstarters have a branched spark: a rare condition that means the two of them can share each other's pain and feelings, and sometimes perceive each other's circumstances. If one Jumpstarter is Defeated or suffers a Condition, the other is also removed from the scene, as they race to save their sibling.
