Optimus Prime Contact Build (Transformers Essence20 rpg)

The time is now! Here is the Contact Build for the one and only Optimus Prime!

You know him... you love him... He DOES have the Touch and the Power!

This is unofficial, fan-made content using the Transformers Essence20 rpg by Renegade Games Studios.

OPTIMUS PRIME

Freedom is the right of all sentient beings.”

Optimus Prime is the awe-inspiring leader of the Autobot forces. Selfless and endlessly courageous, he is the complete opposite of his mortal enemy Megatron. Originally a mere civilian known as Orion Pax, he was chosen by the Matrix of Leadership to command, the first in a number of heavy burdens he has been forced to bear. Another is his bringing of the Transformers' conflict to Earth. Every casualty, human or Cybertronian, weighs heavily on his spark. He does not show this side to his soldiers and never succumbs to despair. The Autobots need a decisive, charismatic leader and that is what he gives them. It was that leadership which turned the tide of the Great War.

On the battlefield, there are few who rival Optimus Prime's prowess. He is easily the strongest of any Autobot his size. When teamed with his Combat Deck and Roller drone, his ion blaster and energon-axe are deadly weapons. He would sacrifice his life to protect his fellow Autobots or those under their care and does so on a regular basis. His compassion for other sentient beings is his only real weakness, and one the Decepticons have taken advantage of time and again... though it's also the source of his strength!

Influences

Bureaucrat, Experiment, War Veteran: Before the war, he was known as Orion Pax, and served as an archivist in the data storage library of Alpha Trion. After being heard by the Cybertronian Council, Orion was declared to be the next Prime, following Sentinel Prime in succession. He was soon afterwards betrayed and gunned down by Megatron, resulting in his being reforged as Optimus Prime.

Origin

Monolith: Optimus Prime assumes the alt mode of a Freightliner COE Dual-Axle Semi Truck.

Role and Focus

Field Commander (Ambassador): This Role and Focus from the Core Rulebook was made with Optimus Prime in mind.

Essence Scores and Skills

Strength 10: Athletics +d4, Brawn +d8, Might +d8

Speed 8: Driving (Land) +d4, Initiative +d4, Targeting +d6

Smarts 10: Alertness +d6, Culture +d6, Science +d4, Technology +d4

Gaining Optimus Prime As A Contact

Fellow Autobot: If this Contact is on scene, the PCs can summon them for 1 round.

You Got the Touch: Prime knows that not everyone is a warrior. He has plenty of Autobots under his command who are not fighters. He just wants to know if those under his command are reliable when called upon. If the PCs spend their downtime working under the supervision of Optimus Prime and succeed on four DIF 20 Skill Tests without failure -- one from each Essence Score -- they gain Optimus Prime as a permanent Contact.

Allegiance Points: 5

Contact Perks

Autobots, Roll Out! (3 Allegiance Points): Optimus Prime orders his Autobots to mobilize. All PCs gain an additional Move Action they can use until the end of their turn.

Heroic Motivation (1 Allegiance Point): Optimus Prime knows what to say to help inspire others in their time of need. A PC gains an Edge on their next Persuasion Skill Test.

One Shall Fall! (3 Allegiance Points): Optimus Prime barrels through the combat field, blasting Decepticons with his ion rifle and sweeping through their chassis with his energon axe. Remove one Threat from the Combat scene. This Threat must be Threat Level 15 or lower.

One Shall Stand… (2 Allegiance Points): The heroic presence of Optimus Prime bolsters his Autobots with renewed vigor. All attempts to impose the Frightened Condition on the PCs suffer a Snag until the end of the scene.

The Light of the Matrix (1+ Allegiance Point): Optimus Prime wields the power of the Matrix of Leadership. A PC is healed for 1 Health or has a condition removed (with the exception of Defeated; removing the Defeated Condition requires spending 3 Allegiance Points). Prime can heal multiple PCs or Health by spending additional Allegiance Points. Each PC healed (or having a Condition removed) with the Light of the Matrix also has 1 Energon Point restored to them.
