Defensor Contact Build (Transformers Essence20 rpg)

The contact build for today is the gestalt combiner form of the Protectobots: Defensor.

TBH, I prefer Defensor to any other combiners in the Autobot ranks. Superion is fine and all, but he's better in his individual components, so the Aerialbots can do more against the Decepticons, who normally have the advantage in aerial combat. Meanwhile Defensor knows what he's there to do: protect others using his massive size and power. He's got the firepower to be a great warrior, but that's not his function. He primarily uses the skills of his gestalt form to aid and protect others; especially humans. As all of the other gestalt combiners are smashing each other to pieces, Defensor stands apart as the one who works to help others.

You can also be a help to others if you help contribute to the GoFundMe campaign of Owen Stephens to help pay for his cancer treatments.

DEFENSOR

"As long as one innocent being is threatened, none are truly free."

The combined form of the five Protectobots Defensor exists specifically to safeguard human life. In many ways he feels about the human race the way a parent would their children and he would give his life away in an instant rather than let one human come to harm. Defensor is emotionally attached to humans on a level that sometimes worries his fellow Autobots. He identifies with them the same way a sheep dog would with its flock or a puppy with its human owners. As far as Defensor is concerned the humans are his "kind." Sadly the titanic robot giant's attempts at personal interaction and friendly exchanges with humans tend to fail. We humans tend to be more wary and frightened of his alien nature and great size than Defensor can understand. Despite this, Defensor is fairly well adjusted mentally compared to almost every other contemporary gestalt.

Defensor's most notable ability is a powerful force field he can create within 50 feet of his person, but it is very fuel consumptive and he cannot maintain it for long.

Defensor is the combined form of the Protectobots:

Hot Spot (torso)

First Aid (left arm)

Streetwise (left leg)

Blades (right arm)

Groove (right leg)

Additionally, Defensor has a host of auxiliary components who can fill in when a core Protectobot is injured or indisposed. These secondary members include Rook, Medix, Heatrock, Skyfeather, and even Ratchet. Sometimes Groove cedes his place as a limb to one of the substitutes and instead forms a chest plate for the combiner, whilst another specific combination results in God Guardian.

Gaining Defensor As A Contact

Fellow Autobot: If this Contact is on scene, the PCs can summon them for 1 round.

Friend to Humans: Defensor views humans as if they were his own children and will expend his last drop of fuel to protect them. If a PC has the Human Companion Perk, they gain Defensor as a temporary Contact.

Protect the Innocent: Defensor’s first priority is to protect others, especially the helpless human population. If the PCs spend time during a combat scene to ensure the protection of bystanders and help evacuate innocents to safety, they gain Defensor as a permanent Contact.

Allegiance Points: 5

Contact Perks

Activate Force Field (2 Allegiance Points): While in Gestalt Form, Defensor encases an ally in an impenetrable force field. The ally gains Resistance to all damage for 1 round unless the attack has the Indirect trait.

Defensive Bastion (3 Allegiance Points): Defensor’s large size can be used to aid allies in battle. All PCs count as having cover until the end of their next turn.

Healing Infusion (1+ Allegiance Points): Defensor is always ready to dispense energon rays to heal the injured. One PC regains 1 Health. If more Allegiance Points are spent, that character continues to heal 1 Health per Allegiance Point, to a maximum of 5 Health.

S.O.S. (1 Allegiance Point): Defensor spends this turn evacuating noncombatants and putting out any active environmental hazards, in an area determined by the GM.

Contact Hang-Up

Protect and Serve: At the GM’s discretion, if any PC takes an action that risks harm to innocent bystanders, the Protectobots/Defensor will disengage from the fight to safeguard noncombatant lives.
