Hardhead Contact Build (Transformers Essence20 rpg)

The contact build for today is the Autobot Headmaster: Hardhead.

While most of the original Autobot Headmasters were scientists, Hardhead was a soldier. He's a bit gruff and doesn't like to sit around waiting for the brains to come up with their plans, while they could be fighting. It really did allow him to stand out from the others in the series.

At least he's not as obnoxious as Warpath.

This is unofficial, fan-made content using the Transformers Essence20 rpg by Renegade Games Studios

HARDHEAD

"It's either MY way - or NO way!"

Hardhead is a soldier to his core. A soldier with a stubborn streak a megamile wide. He's stubborn to the point of rejecting outright any path but his own, any idea that goes against his natural instinct or inclination (namely fighting), and any advice he didn't come up with himself. He doesn't talk much, and when he does, it tends to be blunt and terse, if not outright rude. A soldier doesn't waste time on social niceties when there's a war to fight.

Perhaps surprisingly, given his limited social aptitude, Hardhead has found a good companion in Duros, his binary-bonded Minicon partner, who enjoys warfare just as much as Hardhead does. The two mesh so well, it's been said that theirs may be the best match among all the binary bonded teams.

Influences

Binary Bonded, Cybertronian Military (Army), War Veteran: Hardhead was constructed cold. He was a career soldier, intended as a problem solver who got things done fast. To him, this meant he had no future, as some day the war will end, and he would be a walking reminder of it, something to be quietly done away with.

Origin

Rainmaker: Hardhead assumes the alt-mode of a mobile Cybertronian artillery platform. On Earth, he assumes the form of a six-wheeled SWAT assault vehicle.

Role and Focus

Vanguard (Heavy Ordinance): Hardhead uses this role and focus from the GIJoe rpg core rulebook.

Essence Scores and Skills

Strength 10: Athletics +d6, Brawn +d6, Intimidation +d4, Might +d4

Speed 5: Driving +d4, Targeting +d6

Gaining Hardhead As A Contact

Fellow Autobot: If this Contact is on scene, the PCs can summon them for 1 round.

Plan of Action: Hardhead does  not like complicated plans. He demands action. If the PCs involved hardhead in an easy to launch attack plan, succeeding on three DIF 16 Initiative, Intimidation, and Targeting Skill Tests, they gain Hardhead as a temporary Contact. Should the attack plan succeed with all Threats defeated and no defeated allies, then the PCs gain Hardhead as a permanent Contact.

Allegiance Points: 3

Contact Perks

Artillery Strike (1 Allegiance Point): Hardhead rains down heavy cannon fire on the enemies. The PCs gain a single use of Artillery Support, as described in the GIJoe RPG core rulebook Equipment chapter.

Ground Assault Specialist (2 Allegiance Points): Hardhead is a specialist in ground assaults. A PC has ↑1 on all Targeting Skill Tests until the end fo the scene, only usable against ground-based targets.

Tankette (3 Allegiance Points): Hardhead often works with a sentient partner drone. He lends her out to aid his allies, when he thinks they need the extra firepower. One PC gains the use of a combat drone until the end of the mission;   as described in the GIJoe RPG core rulebook Equipment chapter.
