Dungeon23: January Day 9
Exploration of the mausoleum continues, bringing fearsome visages in narrow corridors!
Area 9
The western wing of the mausoleum is dark, being well away from the light sources of the front braziers.
The narrow corridors in this area are cold and foreboding, making the area seem claustrophobic. Light sources in these narrow corridors only illuminate half the area with bright light that they normally do. The remaining illumination from such light sources is only dim light. The taint of evil brought to the mausoleum by the presence of the evil cult is pervading the area. This evil can be sensed in this area by those using a spell or magical ability that detects evil (such as a paladin's divine sense ability). Although the aura is only faint, it can have an effect on the weak-minded.
Fearsome Aura: Non-evil creatures who enter this area of narrow corridors must make a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw or suffer the frightened condition. The subject of their fear are the narrow corridors of the mausoleum itself. Thus, a creature affected by this fear will be unable to proceed down any narrow corridor (less than 10-feet-wide) while they are afflicted with this condition. While afflicted with the frightened condition, the creature will suffer 1d4 points of psychic damage each round as dissonant whispers and evil thoughts invade their mind. The creature can repeat the saving throw at the end of each of its turns, ending the frightened condition on a success. A creature that succeeds on the saving throw is immune to this effect for 24 hours.
