Frankenstein's Monster ("The Monsters Are Our Heroes" Villain)
Today's movie monster villain is Frankenstein's Monster, one of the most tragic of creatures and the creation of the founder of science fiction: Mary Shelly.
This article uses game statistics from "The Monsters Are Our Heroes" rpg by Bloat Games.
The Monster was the creation of Victor Frankenstein, a scientist from the late 1700s who was fascinated by electricity and the effects it had on the human body. Upon discovering that electrical impulses could be used to motivate a dead organs and muscles, Frankenstein theorized the potential of creating a human body and reanimating it with a powerful electrical charge to restore life.
His first creation was... less than spectacular. This monster was so abominable in appearance, it frightened even its creator. Rejected by Victor, the monster fled into the night and was found by a blind hermit, who educated the monster; even teaching him how to read.
Seized by a deep loneliness, the monster returned to Frankenstein after several years apart, demanding Victor create a female companion.
From here, it's just a lot of death and tragedy ultimately culminating in Victor and his creation disappearing into the Arctic north and likely dying of exposure.
There have been many variations of the tale, only a few that I've seen personally:
Frankenstein (1931, dir. James Whale)
Bride of Frankenstein (1935, dir. James Whale)
Mary Shelly's Frankenstein (1994, dir. Kenneth Branagh)
I, Frankenstein (2014, dir. Stewart Beattie)
The film I most enjoy, however, is "The Bride" (1985, dir. Franc Roddam)
