Springer Contact (Transformers Essence20 rpg)
Now we get to another fan favorite Wreckers member: Springer!
Springer was introduced to the general Transformers audience in the 1986 Transformers: The Movie, where he stood out as a wise-talking heroic type. He was also the first Autobot Triple-Changer!
In the comics, Springer was placed in charge as the leader of the Wreckers following the death of their original leader: Impactor.
SPRINGER
“Strength is more than just physical.”
Springer is the archetypal action hero: great in a fight, unselfconsciously brave, confident, and always ready with a dead-pan sarcastic quip to lighten the moment. Someone you can depend on to ride in, save the day and be smug about it.
Though his easy self-confidence is one of his most notable features, actually being responsible for others weighs heavily upon his otherwise jocular personality. Nonetheless, Springer ascended to lead the Wreckers. He has twice been named as Rodimus Prime's successor to take the Matrix of Leadership and lead the Autobots, though neither one actually came to pass.
Springer combines the thrusting power of his legs with his retro thrusters to move rapidly through the battlefield, leaping tall structures in a single bound. Although he is quite speedy, he is not faster than a speeding bullet.
Influences
Experiment, Morale Booster, War Veteran: Springer has been fighting alongside the Wreckers so long, he was Impactor’s choice as second-in-command. He would be in charge of the Wreckers, had Ultra Magnus not been assigned to their command by Optimus Prime.
Origin
Champion (Support): As a triple changer, Springer assumes the Alt-Modes of a high-speed car and a helicopter.
Role and Focus
Modemaster (Triple Changer): Springer was the original Triple Changer, having been captured by Shockwave and used as a lab experiment to see if the transformation cog could be implemented with triple-change technology. After his success with Springer, Shockwave recreated his experiments with Astrotrain, Blitzwing, Octane, and eventually Megatron.

Gaining Springer As An Ally
Fellow Autobot: If this Contact is on the scene, the player characters can summon them for 1 round.
Up For Any Challenge: Springer is not afraid to step up to even the greatest of foes. If a PCs Defeat a foe with a greater Threat Level or Role Level in the presence of Springer, then succeed on a DIF 10 Persuasion Skill Test, they gain Springer as a permanent Contact.

Ally Perks
I’ve Got Better Things To Do Tonight Than Die (1 Allegiance Points): Springer is always ready with a one-liner to help inspire his allies. A player character is healed of 1 Damage.
Unyielding Optimism (2 Allegiance Points): Springer has a talent for uplifting allies when they need it most. All PCs gain an Edge on all Skill Tests to resist Conditions until the end of the scene.
Wind Tunnel (3 Allegiance Points): Springer generates a powerful wind current with his helicopter blades. All Threats engaged in Close Combat with a PC are pushed back 15 feet.
