Huffer Contact (Transformers Essence20 rpg)

This article's Contact Build focuses on the Autobot construction engineer Huffer

If ever there is an underappreciated 'Bot, it's Huffer. While all the other Autobot are out there fighting Decepticons and pounding their chests, Huffer, Brawn, and Wheeljack are staying back on the Ark trying to get all their stuff back to working order! No, Huffer didn't punch Starscream in the face today, but you what what he DID do? He rebuilt the energon recharge pod so the rest of the bots can fully recover during their recharge time.

Does he get a "Good Job, Huffer?" No, sir, he does not. He just gets another bot complaining that the lights are flickering in their room.

So, let's give it up for Huffer!

This article is unofficial, fan-made content using the Transformers Essence20 rpg by Renegade Games Studios.

HUFFER

Molecular structure is the key to success.”

To say that Huffer is cranky is an understatement. Huffer's the poster boy for whiny pessimism. He complains and grumbles his way through every day, especially since he's been shipwrecked on Earth. If he thought his existence was unbearable before, it's intolerable now, and he'll certainly let you know. There is no light in his dark hours... which is all the time.

Influences

Cybertronian Military (Engineer), Skeptic: Huffer was an engineer who worked on the Winged Moon under Wheeljack's supervision, although he had little patience for the constant mishaps of Wheeljack's mentee Gears.

Origin

Support: Huffer assumes the alt-mode of a 1960’s Volvo F88 COE

Role and Focus

Scientist (Gadgeteer): Despite what a joy he is to be around, he's very effective at his job. A construction engineer, he can whip up anything of any complexity. Unfortunately, he'll be kicking and screaming the whole way.

Essence Scores and Skills

Strength 7: Brawn +d6, Intimidation +d4, Might +d4

Speed 5: Driving +d4, Initiative +d2, Targeting +d4

Smarts 8: Alertness +d2, Science (Geometry) +d4, Technology (Engineering) +d6

Gaining Huffer As A Contact

Absolutely Reliable: While he is not too sociable, Huffer is always there to do his job. He cares about others willing to put in the hours to get a job done right. If the PCs spend their downtime assisting Huffer with an engineering project, succeeding on three DIF 15 Brawn, Science, and Technology Skill Tests, they gain Huffer as a permanent Contact.

Fellow Autobot: If this Contact is on scene, the PCs can summon them for 1 round.

Allegiance Points: 3

Contact Perks

Extremely Strong (1 Allegiance Point): Next to Optimus and Brawn, Huffer is one of the strongest Autobots around. A PC automatically succeeds on their next Brawn Skill Test.

Mathematics Genius (2 Allegiance Points): Huffer possesses superior mathematical and geometrics knowledge. A PC gains an Edge on their next Science or Technology Skill Test.

Sensor Suite (3 Allegiance Points): Huffer’s arm sensors can test for material strength, heat resistance, elasticity, and more. The PCs learn the Toughness Defense and (current) Health of the Threats in the scene. If the Threats have any Draw-Backs or Vulnerabilities based on their chassis or body form, the PCs also learn this.
