IRONHIDE Contact Build (Transformers Essence20 rpg)

Today's Transformers Contact build is a bot that everyone would like to have in their pocket to pull out and bash Decepticons at a moment's  notice... and he's ready to do it too! We've got Ironhide!

One of the reasons I am making this contact build ahead of some others that have been requested is because Ironhide is the favorite Transformers of one of players: Owen KC Stephens.

While we are on that subject, Owen is going through heavy radiation and chemo treatments to remove a cancer that has been assailing his body for over a decade. As he lives in the United States, the medical bills are ridiculous, and the doctors are rarely ever taking his insurance. He needs our help to cover these expenses. And trust me, if you've been playing an RPG game in the last 25 years, it's likely you've played something written by Owen. So please, help out my friend and a great game designer by donating to his Go Fund Me.

IRONHIDE

High tech circuitry is no replacement for guts.”

Ironhide is one of the oldest and toughest Autobots, and has been on Optimus Prime's team for a long time. "They don't make them like they used to" is an apt description of Ironhide — he's yesterday's model, but he's built to last.

Gruff and ornery, he prefers actions to words, and dislikes talk for talk's sake. But though he may be rough around the edges, he's still optimistic and upbeat. The upside to being through more than your share of trouble means trouble ain't so big a scare anymore.

Ironhide's most distinctive ability is the water gun, a weapon which can generate and shoot a liquid of virtually any type. Liquid nitrogen is historically a favorite, but there have been acids, mortar, and more.

Influences

Security, War Veteran: A skilled warrior and security expert, Ironhide is the head of the Prime Guard, the personal guard of Optimus Prime and future Matrix-bearers.

Origin

Pillar: Ironhide possesses great physical strength and above-average intelligence. His super-dense trithyllium-steel skin is lined with radiation dampers, making him nearly invulnerable to physical and radiation-based attacks.

Role and Focus

Warrior (Sentinel): Although his whole body is armored, it is most heavily concentrated in his front section.

Gaining Ironhide As A Contact

Fellow Autobot: If this Contact is on the scene, the PC can summon them for 1 round.

Prove Yourself: Ironhide looks for Autobots willing to prove themselves both in and out of battle. He admires capability and dependability in others. If the PCs are at least 9th level, they can demonstrate their talents to Ironhide by succeeding at four DIF 15 Skill tests, one from each Essence Score. If they succeed, they gain Ironhide as a permanent Contact.

Security Officer: While Red Alert may be the head of security, Ironhide is the head of the Prime Guard and always looking to train another recruit. If a PC has the Security Influence, they may summon Ironhide as a Contact once.

Allegiance Points: 5

Contact Perks

Chemical Weapons (1 Allegiance Point): Ironhide’s water gun produces a variety of liquid chemical agents to hinder his enemies. A Threat in combat suffers 1 Acid or Cold Damage.

Heavily Armored (2 Allegiance Points): Few Autobots are as heavily armored or radiation-shielded as ironhide. A PC takes one-half damage from a single successful attack.

I’ve Been Around (1 Allegiance Point): Other than Kup, few Autobots have been around the galaxy and back as much as Ironhide. A PC has Edge on their next Culture Skill Test.

Sensor Suite (3 Allegiance Points): Ironhide has an advanced sensor suite, including radar, sonar, and radiowave detectors. All PCs have Edge on Alertness Skill Tests until the end of the scene.
