Pointblank Contact Build (Transformers Essence20 rpg)

Today's Contact Build is the Targetmaster Pointblank.

This character never really stood out to me, and reading his background and tech spec, now I know why.

POINTBLANK

"Be brief of speech and long on action."

Pointblank would say that war is hell, if he wasn't a bot of very few words. Words make arguments, and arguments make wars, and he wants no more of those. That isn't to say he's a poor fighter. He just wants a quiet place to sit down with a good datatrack and a glass of frosty energon, without a Decepticon missile spoiling everything, and if he should find himself pounding the ever-loving lock washers out of the shooter of that missile, it isn't because he bears grudges or even out of regret for the waste of a good drink. No, it's just on general principle. Every battle won brings him closer to retirement, which of course is never going to happen in a million years. No hard feelings, though.

Peacemaker keeps trying to cheer up his Autobot partner, which doesn't make sense, since he's not really upset. He just wants to retire, perhaps to a cozy little polished-titanium cottage with Morphobots twining up the walls, and maybe a cozy nuclear fire blazing on the lead-lined hearth — or for whatever rest an old Autobot soldier yearns. Just because he's pretty sure this won't happen and he'll end up a flattened, burned casualty of a never-ending war, doesn't mean he's depressed, does it?

Influences

Binary Bonded, Security, War Veteran: Pointblank was a member of Security Operations before the Civil War. He's a somber, no-nonsense sort, weary from millions of years of war on Cybertron.

Origin

Champion: Pointblank assumes the alt-mode of a Cybertronian sports car.

Role and Focus

Infantry (Armiger): Pointblank is focused on the use of his Targetmaster Minicon: Peacemaker, who assumes the form of a sonic blaster.

Gaining Pointblank As A Contact

Fellow Autobot: If this Contact is on scene, the PCs can summon them for 1 round.

Fellow Veteran: Pointblank has seen too much of this war. He relates with other vets. PCs with the War Veteran Influence who succeed on a DIF 18 Persuasion Skill Test gain Pointblank as a temporary Contact.

Peer Counseling: If a PC has the War Veteran Influence and spends their downtime attempting to help Pointblank through their depression and PTSD, while succeeding on three DIF 18 Alertness (Insight), Culture, and Persuasion Skill Tests, they gain Pointblank as a permanent Contact.

Allegiance Points: 3

Contact Perks

Actions Speak Volumes (2 Allegiance Points): Pointblank does not trade words with his enemies, when action will do it for him. After making a successful Attack of any kind, a PC makes an Intimidation Skill Test as a Free Action against any one Threat he can see. This Skill Test is made with an Edge if their attack resulted in Defeating their target.

Peacemaker (1 Allegiance Point): Pointblank blasts enemies with his stereophonic sonic blaster. A Threat suffers 1 Sonic Damage and is Deafened until the end of their next turn.

Shielded (3 Allegiance Points): As one of the few Targetmasters equipped with a shield, Pointblank understands that defense is just as important as offence. A PC gains Resistance to all damage until the end of their next turn.
