The Mummy ("The Monsters Are Our Heroes" Villain)

Image
I've made builds for both the 1932 and 1999 versions of Imhotep from "The Mummy." But I forgot one other classic monster film to include: Monster Squad! This article uses statistics from "The Monsters Are Our Heroes" by Bloat Games. In this movie, the Mummy was never named, and did little to impress others with its powers, other than look scary. As such, I don't believe this Mummy was one of any importance. I believe it to be just a random Mummy being used by Dracula in his plot to capture the Amulet. This mummy was easily destroyed by a handful of children. Mummy Evade 10 Hit Points 30 (3 HD) Armor Points 1 (mummy wrappings) Str 3, Dex -1, Con 2 Int -2, Wis 0, Cha 1 Luck 5 ATTACKS Slam: +3 melee attack (1d8+3 bludgeoning damage) ABILITIES Fear Aura: Any creature hostile to the mummy that starts its turn Nearby the mummy must make a DC 10 Wisdom saving throw, unless the mummy is incapacitated. On a failed save, the creature is frightened until the end of it...

Jack Griffin, The Invisible Man ("The Monsters Are Our Heroes" Villain)

Image
Today, we build Jack Griffin (aka "The Invisible Man") from the 1933 film. This article uses statistics from "The Monsters Are Our Heroes" by Bloat Games. Jack Griffin was an albino who was developing invisibility experiments based on the concept of optical density. By applying his experiments to himself, Griffin made his skin and organs transparent, but was unable to reverse the experiment. Desperate to return his body to normal, Griffin resorted to committing crimes as a means of making money to afford the expensive chemicals and equipment needed for his research. Griffin's experiments started in 1897, and have persisted into the modern day, leading to the creation of numerous "Invisible Men" (as the creature type is one of the PCs heroes available in the TMAOH Core Rulebook).  There have been other means developed to create invisibility (such as the dimensional displacement from the "Hollow Man" experiments). And occasionally, some people ...

The Mummy Imhotep, 1999 ("The Monsters Are Our Heroes" Villain)

Image
This article uses game information from " The Monsters Are Our Heroes " by Bloat games. Our previous movie monster features Imhotep from the original 1932 "The Mummy." So, it is only fair to produce abilities for Imhotep as he was presented in the 1999 film "The Mummy" (and "The Mummy Returns"). The Imhtep from the 1999 film “The Mummy” far outstrips the original 1932 monster in power and ability. However, there is a means to destroy this powerful adversary, if the heroes are fast and clever… alas. When Imhotep is originally re-animated by speaking aloud the incantations from the Book of the Dead , he is basically a normal mummy (with some additional powers). While potent and dangerous, he is nowhere near the full power he will acquire later. That requires the mummy to absorb the life force of up to 3+ individuals (who are now Cursed; suffering Disadvantage on all ability checks and attack rolls, as well as being vulnerable to all attacks made by...

Chainclaw (Autobot PC Build - Transformers Essence20 rpg)

Image
This article uses game statistics based on the Transformers Essence20 rpg by Renegade Game Studios. In a recent post by Ryan Costello on Facebook, he discovered the existence of an Autobot character named Chainclaw who was packaged with an Optimus Prime figure. He is quoted as exclaiming: " There's a Transformer named Chainclaw that changes from a wolf into a chainsaw, and I don't think this is being talked about enough." Now, I am familiar with Chainclaw, as I used to own the original character from his 1988 release, as a Pretender beast who was packaged with a bear shell form. But honestly, this version is so much cooler! As such, I have used the Essence20 rpg to build Chainclaw, mixing a few elements from his original version with his new version. This one's for you, Ryan! CHAINCLAW Autobot Ground Trooper Chainclaw believes firmly that there is something very wrong with his systems, if not several things wrong, and nothing will convince him otherwise. He endles...

The Mummy Imhotep, 1932 ("The Monsters Are Our Heroes" Villain)

Image
Continuing with the Mummy theme started by yesterday's posting of the Scorpion King, I present The Mummy Imhotep... probably not the one you were hoping or expecting.... y'know... the sexy, shirtless one... No, this is the original Boris Karloff Mummy as portrayed in the 1932 film. This article uses game statistics from "The Monsters Are Our Heroes" rpg by Bloat games. Imhotep was a high priest who desired the attentions of the priestess Anck-su-namun. After she fell ill and died, Imhotep attempted to use the Scroll of Thoth to resurrect his beloved. However, his plans were blasphemous and he was captured by the Pharoah and mummified alive; the sacred spells in his casket destroyed, curing him in the afterlife. Imhotep's mummy was unearthed by archaeologists in 1921. When they translated the Scroll of Thoth near his body, the Mummy Imhotep was animated by its power and escaped into the Egyptian desert. In 1932, Imhotep returned in disguise as the historian Ardeth ...

THE SCORPION KING ("The Monsters Are Our Heroes" Villain)

Image
This material uses game statistics from " The Monsters Are our Heroes " rpg by Bloat games. Based on characters from "The Mummy Returns" film, directed by Stephen Sommers. In 3067 BC, t he Scorpion King is defeated and exiled to the Desert of Ahm Shere. Dying, the Scorpion King makes a pact to give Anubis his soul in return for the power to defeat his enemies. Anubis accepts, magically conjuring an oasis and golden pyramid, and giving the Scorpion King an army of jackal-like warriors to conquer Egypt. Once the Scorpion King is established as the first Pharaoh of Egypt in 3060 BC, Anubis claims his soul and the army is returned to the Underworld. Five thousand years later, in the year 1933, a cult attempted to bring about the defeat of the Scorpion King by resurrecting the mummy priest Imhotep and using the powers of the undead to destroy the Scorpion King and claim the Army of Anubis for themselves. Their efforts were overcome by the O'Connell Family and thei...
